McGill publishes a paper at ICDE 2011 on quantifying cache incoherence

McGill has published the paper titled "Real-Time Quantification and Classification of Consistency Anomalies in Multi-tier Architectures
" at IEEE Int. Conf. on Data Engineering (ICDE) 2011. The paper provides a framework to quantify in real time the inconsistencies observed by multi-tier applications at application server level.

UPM and McGill publish CumuloNimbo results at VLDB Journal

UPM and McGill publish CumuloNimbo results on a replicated cache  at VLDB Journal. VLDB Journal is ranked first the two categories of the Journal Citation Report (JCR) of ISI in which it appears, computer science-information systems and computer-science-hardware&architecture. The article is the first to provide snapshot consistency for Java EE application servers. Current Java EE application servers simply behave inconsistently when used with a database providing snapshot isolation such as Oracle or PostgreSQL.

Google moves to transactional processing

Google in order to update its web index in a continuous fashion has developed a highly scalable transactional infrastructure to enable the online updating of its index. Before, the index was generated from scratch periodically using map reduce. With the current approach new crawled web pages are indexed in minutes.
